The Oscars Workout

Its 6:30pm on Sunday and I have just woken up from a quick power nap, one of those deep, drooling on yourself naps. Problem was I had overslept and had yet to clean house, meal prep, or workout. Do I stay in bed and watch the Oscars and forfeit feeling awesome after my workout or not? Typical fit girl problems.
If you know me, then you know I opted to go out in the freezing cold and hit the gym to warm up. Yes, its freezing in Austin, Texas now. Friday was a gorgeous warm day and now I have ice on my windshield. Typical Austinite problem lately. Rather than a nite of noshing popcorn, oogling over gowns (love the little red number by Jennifer Lawrence), drooling over men in chic fitted suits (I swoon!), and imaging myself amongst the glitz and glamour I opted for a protien shake and hoodie. Totally worth it. Here's the Academy Awards Workout, warning--there are pushups. Lots of pushups.

WARM UP
Stretch then walk on the treadmill 5 minutes

THE CIRCUIT
Do as many rounds as you can in 15 minutes:
15 BURPEES
15 PUSHUPS
25 Vsit Crunches
PLANK 1 minute
20 LAT PULLDOWNS 60lbs (or you can do jump pullups)
The Finish: 2 minute Plank + 10 PUSHUPS

I completed 3 1/2 rounds (ended at Vsitups) and ended with the finish.

WIDE PUSHUPS ON BENCH
30 seconds of pushups followed by 30 seconds rest x 6

BICEP CURLS AND LAT PULLDOWNS
20 bicep curls at 20 lbs followed by 20 lat pulldowns at 50 lbs. x 4 rounds
At the end, I switched my grip to underhand on the lat pulldowns.

WIDE PUSHUPS ON THE FLOOR, NARROW PUSHUPS, TRICEP DIPS
Try to stay on your toes for the wide!! go to the knee for the narrow
25, 15, 15 repeat 3X

ABS
Put on Kanye West's song POWER.
Do Vsit ups to the end
(at 2 minutes you can switch to toe touches or regular crunches,
then back to Vsit till the end).

The End

I'd like to thank Golds Gym for offering Les Mils BodyPump and RMP classes. Without you, this past year, my endurance would be near zero right now. Thank you to my partner who pushes me to workout so I won't get cranky later and my coworkers who graciously eat my portion of cake and cookies so I can eat my homemade protein bars.

Happy Weekend

Hello there, I hope everyone had a lovely week and is revving up for an amazing weekend! I had a full morning of meetings and interviews then a lovely late lunch at Lupe Tortilla with a skinny margarita and lettuce wrapped fajitas. I was in heaven. The patio was bustling with trays of sizzling fajitas, hand shaken margaritas, and a fire pit nearby. I might as well have been eating on the beach Once the margarita hit the table, I felt like I was instantly transported to a beach side cabana. I love me some fajitas and ritas :) This weekend my sister is coming into town for a visit. I'm so excited! Can't wait to catch up over a glass of wine. I may be fit, but wine is definitely in my diet right now. :)  Happy Weekend everyone! Enjoy yourself--you've earned it!

Happy Good Friday

I hope you all are having a lovely Good Friday! Tonite I'm continuing my new job celebration at the Rooftop Lounge in Houston for a much needed date night with my man set to some bouncy and bass driven house music. Woot! I love me some good, happy, deep and soulful house.  Can't wait to dance it out. This weekend will be especially tempting for those of us on a clean eating diet, especially if you plan on hitting up Easter brunch. This would be a great time to share your goals with your family and friends so they can help keep you accountable and most importantly set some time aside to prep some healthy snacks. Keep your eye on the prize. Eat the eggs all you want, just take it easy on the cadbury eggs and waffles at Easter Brunch ;) You'll thank yourself later.  Check out today's workout below. Set some time aside for yourself this weekend and get moving! What ...
